Sponsorship is sought to cover the costs of this
research and testing. The results will be invaluable in assessing the current scale of corruption, the level of understanding
of the effects of corruption, and the desire to see the eradication of bribery and corruption from daily life. It is likely
that in promoting this innovative, socially responsible concept, corporations can build their ‘ethical capital’
and additionally be seen to be in the forefront of tackling an acknowledged global issue. We propose that corporations champion this Portal, not only for the use of their own employees to improve their business
results, but also by sponsoring the development of the Portal for use with a much wider audience. This would enable:
- Conversations on bribery and corruption issues between businesses of all sizes, government agencies, local communities
and NGO’s to take place
- A ‘one-stop
shop’ Portal for training and research that can be used by a variety of users, from members of corporate boards to high
school students. It can be used to inspire meetings in a range of settings from the internet to local community
centres.
The benefits of sponsorship include a positive
and sustainable reduction of the costs of corruption, and a real reduction in the scope for unethical organizations to drive
down global standards. This, in turn, will improve business results by the reduction of cost and risk.
To
summarise, the beauty of the Portal is that it will, for the first time, make it possible to collect and collate
data (e.g. surveys and training assessments) that will help gauge attitudes and understanding of corruption amongst various
areas of business and the many affected communities. It will also create a real opportunity to change behaviours
through continuous development, improvements in understanding and results-based research.
The
technology offers:
- Online training
modules
- Web conferences
- Downloadable
training modules
- Workshop media (presentations, handouts, planning documents etc.) for
local trainers
- Resource library: document archives, web links
Additionally,
the Portal has the capacity to provide:-
- A full-featured system for scheduling, deploying, tracking and reporting of all types of training undertaken to track
compliance with anti-corruption practices
- An information portal that enables
document archiving and sharing as well as online discussion
- Appropriate content for every culture
